The Spices Board, Rubber Board, and the Digital University of Kerala have entered into a partnership to develop an Android app and spatial models of soil-nutrients for cardamom farmers. The app will provide site-specific, need-based fertilizer recommendations, with the project focusing on improving soil quality through site-specific nutrient management. The project will document the major, secondary, and micronutrient status of cardamom growing regions and provide information to farmers through the app. The app is inspired by the RubSIS app launched by the Rubber Board. The Spices Board is responsible for the export promotion of 52 scheduled spices and the development of small and large cardamom.
