The Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has reported a decrease in fresh banana exports from January to October 2022, with a total of 325,859.72 tons exported, marking an 11.79% decrease from the previous year. The majority of these exports, 89.93%, were to China, seeing a year-on-year decrease of 9.33%. Exports to Vietnam and Japan also declined by 27.39% and 99.98% respectively. This decrease is primarily due to China's epidemic prevention policy affecting the movement of people and goods. However, Hun Lak, head of Longmate Agriculture Co Ltd, remains optimistic, believing that the Chinese market will reopen and lead to an improvement in banana exports.
